June 1 by Eric Dreshfield
On June 11-13, at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place, in Chicago, IL, the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) hosts their 4th annual Legal Operations Conference. This conference offers members the opportunity to learn about the ways that in-house law departments can become more efficient and effective. It reflects the continuing shift towards law departments aligned with business objectives.
Presentations not only deal with the typical legal issues important to in-house counsel, but also topics that recognize the more strategic role the law department is playing by helping the business to drive positive outcomes that make the business better. This conference covers topics that didn’t even exist just a few years ago like AI and blockchain.
It’s no surprise that since the ACC is the world’s largest community of in-house counsel, that ACC Legal Operations Conference is a very collaborative event with an abundance of networking opportunities, a pre-conference boot camp designed to get newbies in shape, as well as many interactive sessions, workshops and expert-led roundtables on more advanced topics such as those mentioned above.
ACC says the conference is designed for members of ACC Legal Operations – leaders of corporate legal department operations, including those who run outside counsel and/or vendor management, finance, project and technology management. The conference features 2 sessions on Blockchain, 3 sessions on Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning and 4 sessions discussing metrics & analytics. There are workshops on driving change and client-law firm collaboration.
Some of the companies represented by those presenting sessions include a collection of Apttus customers, partners as well as some of the largest companies in the world, like Microsoft, Walmart, HBR Consulting, Liberty Mutual Group and many more.
