January 23 by Eric Dreshfield
Whether you want to admit it or not, you know there’s that certain musical group you love to listen to, and whenever one of their songs starts playing on the radio in your car, you instinctively reach for the volume knob and crank it up to 11. It’s the same with authors, television shows, YouTube artists, bloggers and yes, even conferences. Now I know you can’t really turn up the volume on a blogger or a conference, but that “can’t miss it” feeling is certainly there. Apttus Accelerate is one of those “can’t miss” events, and for 2018, Accelerate calls a new location home.
New Year – 2018
A new year comes around every January 1st. There’s no denying or stopping that. It’s like your birthday, even if you don’t celebrate them or count the years anymore because you’ve reached your “maximum age,” it’s still going to happen, and someone will make a big deal out of it. So what’s in store for us during 2018?
- A rare triple-treat for sky-watchers on January 31, 2018, as the combination of a super moon, a blue moon and a total lunar eclipse takes place.
- The NFL’s Superbowl LII takes place on February 4, 2018, from Minneapolis, MN, as the Philadelphia Eagles take on the New England Patriots.
- The Winter Olympics take place February 9 – 25, 2018, in PyeongChang, Korea.
- March Madness returns to the NCAA, March 11 – April 2, 2018.
- Apttus Accelerate takes place May 14 – 16, 2018, in San Francisco. (Read on for more about Accelerate.)
- Dozens of Salesforce Community events take place all year long!
New Venue – Palace of Fine Arts
Apttus Accelerate 2018 will be held at San Francisco’s Palace of Fine Arts. Sitting at number 11 on TripAdvisor’s top things to do in San Francisco, the Palace of Fine Arts is an iconic structure originally built for the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exhibition, the Palace of Fine arts has quite a unique history. After the 1906 earthquake and fire that destroyed much of San Francisco, business and civic leaders became so inspired to show the world that the city had risen up from the devastation that it only took 2 hours to raise $4 million for San Francisco to beat out competitor cities like New Orleans and Washington, D.C., to host the 1915 exhibition. The Palace of Fine Arts was supposed to be taken down after the fair, but we all know how that story ended. The Palace now plays host to a theater for live events and concerts, as well as weddings and corporate events. When you attend Accelerate, make sure your phone is well charged up – you’ll want to take a lot of pictures of this beautiful venue.
In past years, Apttus Accelerate has featured inspiring speakers, from many industries sharing challenges and successes. Accelerate has also featured big names from the entertainment and sports worlds. And, like many other tech conferences, there’s always good food and great conversation to share with fellow attendees. For 2017, Accelerate featured Magician David Blaine, music from The English Beat, treats from Pinkberry Yogurt and Smitten Ice Cream as well as fresh-brewed and hand-crafted coffees from Philz Coffee and Ritual Coffee. Who is coming to Accelerate in 2018, and what will they speak about? Those the questions everyone wants answered!
