In this episode of the Road to Dreamforce series recap, we explore how admins and developers can get the most out of their time at Dreamforce 2016. Everyone knows that admins and developers are an integral part of the Salesforce ecosystem, and this will be reflected heavily at the conference this year. With everything from incredible sessions, to parties and new zones, this year promises to be the most exciting yet. If you were too busy to catch the episode this week, we have you covered. Here are the top 10 takeaways from episode.
1) The Developer… Forest
The developer zone of years past will be getting a makeover this year. Joining with the Trail theme of Dreamforce 2016, developers will now find everything that they need in the Developer Forest. In this forest there will be everything that developers could ever need: hands on hack contests for incredible prices, a library area with all your favorite books, and even coloring books. Inside the developer forest there will be different areas including the innovation camp, in which developers can find one on one expert guides and demos.
2) Admin… Meadow
Much like the developer zone re-brand, the Admin zone will be getting a revamp this year. Welcome to the Admin Meadow. In the Admin Meadow, Salesforce will be bringing back the fan favorites including the Admin Theater with over 60 interactive sessions and the admin demo stations, staffed by admins as well as MVPs. Don’t let this fool you, however. With the new zone names comes many new attractions such as the automation station, a place to help admins learn how to effectively map business processes.
3) Don’t forget the fun in the Admin Meadow
It’s not all business within the rolling plains of the admin meadow. Admins love to have fun as well. In the meadow this year, Salesforce will be bringing the needed fun with photo booths, karaoke contests, lip syncing, bingo, and a ton of swag, including the very popular Trailhead hoodies.
4) Agenda builder Release Date
They finally have a set date for the release of the agenda builder. Get your calendars out. The Dreamforce Agenda Builder will be going live on Wednesday September 7th. To get access on the 7th, you will need to sign with the name that you registered for the event.
5) What’s New with the Agenda Builder
While much of the Agenda builder will be similar in feel to the previous versions, there are a few very important updates. 1) The Builder will be separated and searchable according to day. 2) There will be specific Trailmaps – segmentations by persona, providing recommendations on what sessions to see and how to best plan your day. 3) Just a reminder, 75% of the session spots can be reserved beforehand, while 25% of sessions are saved for walk ins. 4) New this year is a search capability, allowing attendees to search by session and speaker. Get planning everyone!
6) Salesforce University at Dreamforce
When does Dreamforce 2016 start? If you think the answer is Tuesday the 4th, you are wrong. In fact, Salesforce University kicks of the conference on Saturday October 1st. Starting Saturday, Salesforce University will be holding 1,2, and 3 day classes/programs with certified instructors for all levels of Salesforce User. They will also be holding the first party of the Conference at Spin, which will include networking, food, and ping-pong competitions.
7) Salesforce Certification at Dreamforce
One of the best ways to get the most out of you Dreamforce experience is to get Salesforce Certified while at the event. Starting Monday night, and extending through every night of the conference, 400 people will be sitting down at the Hilton to take their certification exams. In addition to Certification, make sure to sign up for HOTS (hands on training sessions). They fill up fast, so schedule yours ASAP.
8) Salesforce University Lodge
The Lodge for Salesforce University will be at the Hilton this year. The Lodge will contain a certification preparation area, in which there will be practice exams, a study hall, and a theater with 20 minute thought leadership sessions on topics such as user adoption and much more.
9) The Keynotes and Sessions
Both the Admins and the Developers will have a keynote this year at the event. The Admins keynote will be on Thursday October 6th at 5 PM, while the Developer Keynote will be held on Thursday at 11 AM. The sessions this year, for both Admins and Developers are mind boggling. There will be over 270 sessions for developers, including 45 on lightning development, 35 on integration, and 25 on coding with Apex. The Admins will be having over 135 sessions, with content for everyone from beginners to veterans. More importantly, the Admin sessions are for Admins by Admins, with 93% of sessions being led by Salesforce customers.
10) Salesforce for Startups
Created to help startups more effectively use Salesforce, Salesforce for Startups will have a strong presence at the event. There will be a startup Trail, Startup Valley, the innovation stage (where there will be great panels filled by current Salesforce Startup customers), and Dreampitch.
